MoU on India-Kenya Agricultural Pact Approved

A meeting was held recently by the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Union Cabinet approved the signing of MoU between India and Kenya on agriculture and associated areas. A cabinet release read that the union cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Kenya on bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.

Further, a joint working group is expected to be constituted with representatives from both the countries, to develop programs for the execution of MoU and their implementation would also be monitored. The MoU would cover numerous activities on field of agricultural research, animal husbandry and dairy, livestock and fisheries horticulture, natural resource management, soil and conservation, water management, irrigation farming systems development and associated fields. The release further said that the MoU would come into affect right from the day of signing and will remain valid for a period of five years subsequently. It would further get automatically renewed until any one of the country notifies the other, six months in advance from the date of expiry about its intension to terminate it.
